Dear Taskforce Members,
It is now a couple of weeks since our workshop and we are about to move into the real work. Yesterday the committee had a meeting to review the outcomes of the workshop in preparation for the first subcommittee meetings next week.
We will issue a draft version of the consultant’s report for your feedback next week. This will feed into the revised project plan that will be brought together after the subcommittees further define their outcomes.
The draft high-level outcomes of the workshop included:
Taskforce Vision Statement: To dramatically enhance and continuously improve environmental water quality outcomes, through proper management and increased adoption of reliable SQIDs.
Taskforce Draft Project Objectives:
1. Capture of practical improvements that fill the gaps not presently addressed by SQIDEP and propose additions/ amendments, or standards, for the approval process.
2. Provide guidelines or a solution for true lifecycle costing of SQIDs.
3. Obtain appropriate industry agreement to change and introduce new protocols, standards and regulations. i.e. approval to move to stage 2 – implementation of recommendations.
SQID Taskforce Purpose Statement: Help SQIDS provide a function in the real world consistent with their design intent.
Tag line: Help SQIDS be better SQIDS
Additional information
Many members have offered up additional information that they feel may be relevant to the working groups. We have established a One Drive that the convenors have access to, and we are putting all of that information in the folder where all will have access. We will also post as key information pieces on the portal.
Stormwater Australia
Stormwater Australia initiated a major review of the Stormwater Quality Improvement Device Evaluation Protocol (SQIDEP), with the first phase of the review focusing on program direction, performance, governance, structure, management, operations and administration. They have released a survey that requests feedback on their recommendations. We encourage you to partake in the survey which can be found at CLICK HERE TO ACCESS SURVEY.
They also advise that a review of technical matters related to the Hybrid Pathway V3.5 – this document recently was reviewed by an external consultant for and then they sought comment/feedback from all SQIDEP evaluators. They are now determining our next steps regarding this feedback which includes the possibility that this document can be combined with the SQIDEP Protocol V1.3.
Stormwater Australia have provided us with a copy of the feedback they have received on the SQIDEP program. This will be distributed to the working groups.
I will be interested to hear back from the subcommittees next week with your recommended deliverables.
Regards
David Nixon
