Last week, we discussed the challenges facing NSW stormwater management and our foundational Stormwater 2030 Model. This week, we’re excited to spotlight the key achievements and strategic initiatives detailed in our 2025 Annual Report, demonstrating the significant progress made in our first year.
Over the past year, Stormwater 2030 has delivered a suite of strategic initiatives that are forming the foundation of our work towards world-class stormwater management in NSW. These efforts span advocacy, tools for collaboration, cross-sector partnerships, and new models for industry engagement.
Key achievements include:
- White Paper Baseline Survey: This annual performance survey is vital for establishing a baseline for the stormwater sector. It provides tools to systematically track progress, quantify improvements, and generate crucial metrics for informing strategic decisions across the industry.
- Stormwater 2030’s Advocacy Program: Central to our mission, this program aims to build a unified and properly funded framework for stormwater reform. Our advocacy strategy is built upon six pillars: Policy Reform, Funding Security, Capacity Building, Collaboration, Planning Excellence, and Leadership. We’ve actively engaged with key state MPs and political stakeholders to advance cross-portfolio stormwater solutions.
- SQID Taskforce: In partnership with Stormwater NSW and industry, the Stormwater Quality Improvement Devices (SQID) Taskforce is a critical cross-sector initiative. It addresses significant gaps in the adoption, approval, and maintenance of SQIDs, focusing on improving their long-term performance, transparency, and accountability to deliver better water quality outcomes across NSW.
- Stormwater 2030 Website & Services Directory: Launched in July 2024, our website serves as a central platform for sharing information, supporting transparency, and fostering engagement. The accompanying Services Directory connects industry professionals and councils, promoting stormwater-related services and supporting a decentralized, accessible model for collaboration.
These initiatives are not just isolated projects; they are interconnected components of our broader strategy to deliver cleaner waterways, stronger communities, and shared responsibility. Each achievement moves us closer to our goal of world-class stormwater management in NSW.
