For My Community

Protecting Your Home,
Health, and Weekends.

Simple information, local facts and practical ways to help protect the beaches, waterways and neighbourhoods you care about.

Your Backyard

Why Stormwater Impacts Your Daily Life.

You deserve clean beaches to swim in, safe local seafood to eat, and a home protected from preventable flooding. When stormwater is mismanaged, it directly impacts your property value, your insurance premiums, and your weekend recreation. We are fighting to ensure your local waterways are treated as community assets, not open sewers.

  • Cleaner beaches & waterways

  • Less flooding and lower risk

  • A healthier place to live

The Local Impact

The Reality for Our Communities.

Heavy rain can make swimming unsafe.

1 DAY / 3 DAYS

NSW Beachwatch advises avoiding ocean swimming for at least 1 day after heavy rain, and estuaries and inland waterways for up to 3 days, due to pollution washed in by stormwater runoff.

Tyres are polluting our waterways.

19 IN 20

An Australian study found that approximately 19 out of every 20 microplastic particles collected in stormwater runoff during rain were tyre wear particles.

Flood risk is closer than you think.

1 IN 6 HOMES

More than 2 million Australian homes; approximately 1 in 6 residential properties are exposed to varying levels of flood risk. Of these, at least 70% have experienced a reduction in property value due to that risk.

The drain is not a treatment plant.

2 SEPARATE SYSTEMS

Stormwater and sewage travel through separate systems and stormwater is generally not treated before entering waterways.

Stopping Pollution at the Source

Lobbying for world-class filtration targets so heavy metals and plastics never reach your local beach.
